Chancellor Rishi Sunak yesterday confirmed that the stamp duty holiday has been extended for another three months, meaning people in Wakefield and the Five Towns will pay no property purchase tax on the first £500,000 of sales until the end of June. After that, the stamp duty threshold will be set at £250,000, double its normal rate, until the end of September.
This means that current and potential homeowners in Wakefield and the Five Towns could stand to save thousands in fees if they complete on a purchase in the next few months.
So whether you're looking for your next family home, or just hoping for some property inspiration, this is the list for you. These are nine of the most popular homes currently on the market in Wakefield, according to Zoopla, with options for every budget.
Tom Parker, Consumer Spokesperson at Zoopla, said: "The most popular homes for sale in Wakefield cover a wide range of budgets, with prices ranging from under £130,000 to over £1,000,000.
"Given the recent extension of the stamp duty holiday, properties on sale for £250,000 or less will become increasingly popular, as any purchases completed in this price bracket before the end of September will be stamp duty exempt."
