An 89-year-old man has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after a collision on the M1 at Wakefield.

Police are appealing for information on the collision, which happened at about 4.50pm on Tuesday, December 1.

The incident involved a blue Hyundai i10, which was travelling towards the northbound slip road at junction 39 of the M1, the Durkar Interchange Roundabout.

The vehicle left the road and collided with a lamp post, leaving a passenger, an 89-year-old local man, with potentially life threatening injuries.

He was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The driver was uninjured.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have footage of the vehicle prior to it is asked to contact the West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit on 101 using the 101 LiveChat facility, referencing log 1025 of December 1.
