Armistice Day.
Armistice Day.

Tears were shed and prayers were given after a solemn two minutes’ silence was held today (Tuesday) to remember British servicemen who died since the war began 100 years ago - at locations across the district - on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

People gathered at the steps of Wakefield Cathedral, Westmorland Street, and hushed to a silence in remembrance at 11am.

And people in Pontefract met at the War Memorial in Pontefract town centre from 10.45am to observe the two minutes’ silence.
