Bank holiday pharmacy opening times

Pharmacy opening times for Bank Holiday Monday have been announced by NHS bosses.

Boots, on Upper Kirkgate, will be open from 10am-5pm on Monday, August 31.

Sainsbury’s Pharmacy, at Trinity Walk, on Marsh Way, will be open from 9am-7pm.

Asda, on Asdale Road, will be open from 9am-6pm.

Exel Chemist, on High Street, Normanton, will be open from 10am-4pm.

Boots, on Beastfair, Pontefract, will be open from 10am-4pm.

Lloyd’s Pharmacy, on Market Place, Pontefract, will be open from 11am-4pm.

Asda, on Leeds Road, Glass Houghton, will be open from 9am-6pm.

Ash Grove Pharmacy, on England Lane, Knottingley, will be open from noon-4pm.

People are advised to seek help from their pharmacist when GP practices are closed on Monday.

They are also advised to stock up on essential medicines including anti-diarrhoea medicine, sore throat remedies, cough remedies, plasters and bandages, antihistamines and antiseptic cream.

Dr Phil Earnshaw, chairman of NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Pharmacists are experts in the use of medicines and can give advice and help with common minor illnesses like insect bites and stings, rashes, headaches, coughs and colds and upset tummies.”
