Blues Brothers tribute act need you, you, you

They rose to worldwide fame in the 1970s with their unique style of music and performances.

Now tribute act Ian Jefferson and Paul Carr from Pontefract are hoping to emulate the success of the legendary Blues Brothers after recording a single for charity.

The duo - known as The Bruvvas Blue - have worked with the Team Midas record label to produce a cover of the legendary band’s classic Everybody Needs Somebody track to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Mr Jefferson, who performs as Jake Blues, said: “Everybody Needs Somebody is a great dance track and it’s out just in time for the Christmas parties and while you are having a great time, just think that you will be helping a great charity.”

Fellow band member Mr Car performs as Elwood Blues as part of the tribute act.

Students of New College Pontefract helped record and mix the track with the band.

Dean Maynard, owner of Team Midas, said he was “over the moon” when the pair agreed to record the cover.

He said: “I have known the lads for a few years and I approached them, with the idea of covering the track, I was over the moon when they agreed to record it.

“I hope we raise tonnes of cash for this very worthy cause.”

The duo have performed their tribute songs at venues across the UK and raised thousands of pounds for different charities.

Their covers include She Caught the Katy, Soul Man, Hey Baby and New Orleans.

The song officially goes on sale tomorrow on iTunes for 99p and all proceeds will be donated to the charity.
