A man died of a suspected gunshot wound in a hotel car park last night (Friday).

The 52-year-old Tingley man was found injured in a car in the Village Hotel car park, Tingley, at about 10.30pm.

A police spokesman said they received a call from a member of the public at 9.34pm raising concerns for the welfare of a 52-year-old man.

He said: “Shortly before 11pm the man’s vehicle was traced to a car park on Capitol Boulevard in Tingley. The man was found inside with serious injuries and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner’s office has been informed.”

The spokesman said the man was believed to have died from a gunshot wound and armed police went to the scene.
