Two-year-old western screech owl Delilah escaped from her aviary on Wednesday, October 28 after a fox dug a hole underneath it and she got out.

Her owner Kira Weston, who runs falconry display business KL Falconry, has now appealed for help to find her owl.

Miss Weston, 21, said: “I am absolutely devastated. I have had her since she was just ten days old and love her to bits.

“When I bought her she cost £500 but to me she is just priceless and I just want her to come back.”

Delilah makes a distinctive calling sound - like a popping noise - and Miss Weston said she thought she was still around her home in Carleton, Pontefract.

She said: “Delilah is only about five-inches tall and she escaped the aviary through a hole a fox had dug.

“I don’t think the fox got to her because I could still hear her after she had got out. I think she is staying in the trees near my house but nobody has got in touch yet.

“I would just ask people to check their gardens and sheds and listen for her distinctive calling sound.”

Anyone with any information or if people think they have seen Delilah they should contact Miss Weston on 07525 467491.
