Castleford tractor driver arrested after fatal crash

A tractor driver from Castleford has been arrested on suspicion of causing a pensioner’s death by dangerous driving.

The 33-year-old was held following a collision between a red tractor and a yellow Fiat Panda in North Yorkshire.

The incident happened on the B6265 at Great Ouseburn near Boroughbridge, just before 6pm on Thursday.

A man in his 70s who was driving the Fiat died at the scene. A female passenger, also aged in her 70s and from Boroughbridge, was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured.

The tractor driver has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
