The city’s tenth annual Festival of Food, Drink and Rhubarb starts today.
And Rachel Green, star of ITV Yorkshire’s Flying Cook and Peter Sidwell, presenter of Britain’s Top Bakery and Lakes on a Plate, will join local chefs in rustling up sweet and savoury dishes in cookery demonstrations.
Coun Les Shaw, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for culture, leisure and sport, said: “This year we are delighted to welcome some famous faces to our cookery tent.
“Rachel Green will be returning to the festival’s cooking stage on the Friday and Peter Sidwell will be demonstrating how to make delicious rhubarb dishes on Saturday.
“I’m also pleased that we are welcoming back a whole host of our amazing local talent.
“Come and see the local chefs in action as they share their favourite rhubarb recipes.
“There is so much going on through the three days so don’t miss out on this fantastic weekend in Wakefield.”
Other highlights include a Yorkshire market, walks and tours, street food and craft workshops, as well as a new family fun zone on Brook Street.
The festival runs from 10am until 5pm today and tomorrow and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.
