Police officers from the South East and Pontefract and Knottingley neighbourhood policing teams (NPTs) have organised the event which will feature a football and tag rugby tournament as well as live music and stalls at Minsthorpe Community College in South Elmsall on Saturday.
There will also be rides and displays from the West Yorkshire Police Dogs Unit and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
PC Karen Stanton of the Pontefract and Knottingley NPT, who has organised the event, said: “I have lived in South Elmsall for most of my life and went to school with one of the victims, so I felt a personal connection to it all. I just wanted to do my bit to help out.”
The event will raise money for the charity Beth’s Angels, which has been set up to support those who were injured in the crash, and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
PC Stanton said: “We want to get as many people as we can together on that day to remember Bethany and to help raise money for the fund to help the girls and for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
“The Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Beth’s Angels Community Fund are both very worthy causes and we have already had some fantastic prizes donated which we will use to support them.”
