Construction workers at Ferrybridge Power Station stage protest
Workers building a new multi-fuel energy plant at Ferybridge Power Station walked out on strike in a dispute over pay and working conditions this morning.
More than 150 construction workers, working for contractor Rainham Industrial Services (RIS), staged a protest at the site entrance off Stranglands Lane.
A spokesman for RIS said: “We are presently in discussions with the union representatives and hope to release a formal statement later today.”
Police officers from Normanton, Featherstone, Castleford, Pontefract and Knottingley monitored the protest but a force spokesman said no arrests were made.
