Five jailed after £4 million industrial-scale cannabis farms raided in Wakefield, Pontefract and Normanton
Five men have been jailed for their role in growing almost £4million of cannabis at site in Wakefield.
The gang, led by Selman Hysa, and comprising of close family members and trusted associates, were involved in the industrial-scale production of the drug at commercial and residential premises between October 2024 and April 2025.

Officers found four cannabis farms in Wakefield district, including one at Alverthorpe Road, Wakefield, one at Newgate House, Pontefract, one at Wakefield Park, Horbury, and another at Beckbridge Industrial Estate, Normanton.
A fifth cannabis farm was found at the site of the former Moldgreen Top Club, Church Street, Huddersfield.
The total amount of drugs seized was valued at £3,933,135.
Detectives from West Yorkshire Police's Wakefield District Programme Precision team conducted the investigation which identified Selman Hysa as the ringleader.
His nephews Armand and Klevis Hysa were identified as key players in the operation, alongside Kosta Dumani and Admir Cerpja.
All five were arrested and admitted charges of conspiracy to produce cannabis. Selman Hysa also admitted money laundering offences, while Armand Hysa admitted possession of cannabis with intent to supply, possession of cocaine, and money laundering offences.
Appearing before Leeds Crown Court on Friday (April 24):
Selman Hysa, aged 44, of Warmfield Lane, Warmfield, Wakefield, was sentenced to six years and six months.
Armand Hysa, aged 24, of Doncaster Road, Wakefield, was sentenced to five years and three months.
Klevis Hysa, aged 29, of no fixed address, was sentenced to four years and six months.
Kosta Dumani, aged 42, of no fixed address, was sentenced to four years.
Admir Cerpja, aged 43, of no fixed address was sentenced to three years and 11 months.
Sixth man Klodian Bofja, aged 26, was sentenced to 16 months for cannabis production at the Beckbridge Industrial Estate site.
The investigation was conducted by West Yorkshire Police’s Wakefield District Programme Precision team.
Detective Sergeant Karl Heath said: “This was an incredibly complex investigation which involved the assistance of a large number of officers from across the force to bring down a sophisticated and well-organised conspiracy to produce cannabis on an industrial scale.
“Our investigation deliberately targeted the leadership of this organised group. By targeting the very top tier, we directly struck those who reap the greatest rewards from criminality.
“I hope these sentences sends a clear message that our Programme Precision officers will use all available tactics to cause maximum disruption to organised criminals. We will continue to target those activities and bring offenders before the courts.
“Large-scale cannabis production is far from a victimless crime. It fuels wider organised crime and creates serious risk of harm to communities. Those at the top profit substantially from these operations, which often involve vulnerable people being exploited to live and work in unsafe, often squalid conditions.”
