Jewellery and motorbike stolen in Wakefield burglary

Police are appealing for information following the theft of jewellery and a motorbike in a burglary in Wakefield.

Detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to following the burglary overnight between Monday, June 8, and Tuesday, June 9, at a property in Thornes Road.

Detective Constable Gary Wetherill, of Wakefield District CID, said: “This offence has happened while the occupants were away but has understandably left them feeling upset and distressed.

“A search has been made of the property with a number of items taken including items of jewellery and a Honda Duville motorbike from the garage.

“A credit card was also taken with an attempt made to use the stolen card at the Tescos store in Western Road, Tingley, at around 6am on June 9.

“While this is not the clearest CCTV image we are hopeful that someone may recognise the man’s clothing or that it might trigger someone’s memory.

“We would also like to speak to anyone living locally who has been approached to buy goods under suspicious circumstances.

“Anyone with information is asked to call myself, DC Wetherill, at Wakefield CID via 101. Information can also be given anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
