The elderly man was left distraught after the wallet was lifted in Morrisons on Stuart Road.

It happened on Tuesday evening when the man said he felt someone nudge him while he was shopping in the store and only noticed his wallet was gone when he got to the checkout.

The staff then stepped in to pay for his groceries.

Although there was some cash in the wallet, there were items of personal value, including photographs of his children, photos of when he was in the Army and the lock of hair.

CCTV footage showed two males follow him around the shop with one spotted taking the wallet from his back pocket.

Enquiries are ongoing into the identity of the two males.

The wallet is black leather effect with brass corners.
