PC Pickering and PC Pointer of West Yorkshire Police said they had been on patrol at around 7.30pm on Sunday when they stopped to assist a Yorkshire Ambulance Service crew with a drunken male at the roadside.

While assisting, officers were able to confirm that the 35-year-old had absconded from Pinderfields Hospital without receiving appropriate medical treatment.
