Masked robbers broke into Wakefield supermarket but fail to open safe

Police are investigating the incident at Aldi on Asdale Road in Sandal which happened shortly before 7am when the shop was still shut.

The two men, who were armed with crowbars, managed to force entry into the store and threatened a member of staff, who was not hurt.

They were unable to get into the safe and fled empty handed.

The suspects left the scene making in a White Seat Ibiza.
