Persistent offender jailed for attacking police officer

A persistent offender has been jailed for attacking a police officer and being in breach of his criminal behaviour order (CBO).

Alec Mark Johnson was banned from Castleford town centre in November last year as part of the five-year CBO he received for his nuisance behaviour.

The 29-year-old, who lives on South Baileygate in Pontefract, admitted being on Sagar Street and Castleford town centre on March 13.

He also admitted to being drunk at Castleford Bus Station on April 4, and assaulting the female police officer.

Appearing twice at Leeds Magistrates’ Court in the space of three days to answer to the charges, he was finally jailed for a total of 38 weeks.

He was also told to pay court charges of £122 for each of his appearances.

As part of his CBO, Johnson is forbidden from entering Castleford town centre unless her has a pre-arranged appointment, drink alcohol in a public place and enter premises from which he has been banned within the Wakefield district.
