Police issue warning after thieves target unlocked cars
Unlocked cars have been targeted by opportunist thieves in Normanton.
The vehicles parked on Park Avenue and Talbot Street had no sign of forced entry, meaning they had been left unsecure.
Among the items taken were a skateboard, coat and loose change that had been left in the door pocket.
The gloveboxes for each vehicle had also been opened and searched.
In a Facebook post, West Yorkshire Police said: "We have received a couple of reports of vehicles targeted over the last few days in Normanton. These occurred around Park Avenue and Talbot Street. No damaged had been caused to the vehicles or locks.
"Stolen property included a skateboard, coat and loose change that had been left in the door pocket. The gloveboxes had also been opened and searched.
"Please remember to remove all your valuables, however small, from view or place them in the boot when leaving your vehicles.
"Offences can take place anywhere, in a car park, at the side of the road or on your driveway.
"Always check you have locked your vehicle by trying the door handle.
"Remember to rub off any marks on your window left by your sat nav holder."
