Sandal RUFC have become so fed up with the problem that the club's executive committee recently posted an open letter on their website, asking people to report any further incidents at their Standbridge Lane home, so a case can be put together against those responsible.

The letter reads: "There is an ongoing problem of suspected drug dealing along with constant litter, broken glass and most recently the vandalism to rugby posts and the scoreboard.

"The executive team at Sandal RUFC believe these and other anti-social behaviour incidents to be caused by youths in and around the local community.

"As we are sure everyone can appreciate, the rugby club is a local community facility and is used by people from the immediate vicinity and the wider Wakefield area, notably most recently working with the NHS as a vaccination centre for people within the area.

"Furthermore, the club is recognised throughout Yorkshire and beyond for the service it provides to the sport of rugby as well.

"We recognise it is probably the few that are causing this damage and we don’t want to name and shame at this point."

The club says the team will be working with the community to report all anti-social behaviour to help "build a case" and take further action.
