Rugby star's ABH trial adjourned until next year

The 28-year-old is charged with attacking the woman and causing actual bodily harm at his Mapplewell Road home in Castleford on May 19, last year.

Eden, who plays for Castleford Tigers, denies the charge and a trial date had been fixed for November 11 at Leeds Crown Court.

But during a pre-trial preview this morning in which the defendant was not present, it was disclosed that the complainant in the case would be unable to attend on that date.

A new date of August 31, 2021, has now been pencilled in as a start date. The trial is expected to last three days.
