UPDATE - Normanton ‘bomb’ safely destroyed
People have now been allowed to return to their homes and businesses after being evacuated during a bomb scare in Normanton.
A suspect device found in the car park of the Co-op, on West Street, was declared safe by experts from the Ministry of Defence.
A 200 metre wide safety cordon that had been put in place has now been lifted and roads have been re-opened.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “The device was not found to be suspicious. All cordons and road closures have been lifted and enquiries are on-going.”
