A West Yorkshire Police staff member has appeared in court, charged with making an indecent image of a child.

Carl Hardcastle, 57,will appear at Leeds crown Court on April 12.

Carl Hardcastle, 57,appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Monday, charged with the offence that is alleged to have taken place between April 1, 2020 and October 8, 2020.

Hardcastle, who works in the Protective Services department, appeared before the court, but spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, address and nationality.

He has yet to be arraigned, but a guilty plea was indicated, and he is expected to appear at Leeds Crown Court for a committal for sentencing hearing on April 12.

He is currently suspended from West Yorkshire Police.
