We are calling for nominations of children aged 16 or under who have gone that extra mile and deserve recognition.

If you know a youngster who has gone out of their way to help friends, family or neighbours, courageous children who have bravely battled illness or quick-thinking miniature heroes who have sprung into action during a crisis, you have until Friday, November 29, to let us know.

Nominated children will be invited to a glittering awards ceremony at Wakefield Theatre Royal, where they will be presented with an award before being treated to a performance of the Christmas pantomime - Jack and the Beanstalk.

Last year we enlisted the help of BBC news presenter Clare Frisby to recognise the achievements of scores of children from across the district.

If you know a young person who is a Champion Child please write to tell us about what makes them special.

Please include the child’s name, age, address and their parent or guardian’s daytime contact number.
