Family praise the hospice and back lake event

Four generations of the same family have praised Wakefield Hospice for the care it showed to their loved one.

The family of the late Bob Ratcliffe say they are “eternally grateful” to the hospice for the way they looked after him.

They are supporting the hospice’s Lights on the Lake event next month, which will see the water at Pugneys filled with floating memorial candles at sunset on June 11.

Lucy Wallis said: “This year, I shall be sponsoring a candle at the Lights on the Lake event in memory of my beloved grandad. I will be eternally grateful for the wonderful care the hospice provided to him and all of the support they gave us as a family during such a difficult and emotional time; not only while he was in their care, but after he had passed away. As I’m also a volunteer for the Hospice, it’s an honour and privilege to be part of such a heart-warming event where people come together to remember loved ones and celebrate their lives, as well as supporting the amazing work that Wakefield Hospice does each and every day.”

Her comments were echoed by her mum, Debbie Jukes. She added: “The Lights on the Lake event gives me the chance to sponsor a light and for us to come together as a family to share our memories of my wonderful dad. It is lovely to be part of this event where so many people are united by their shared experiences and importantly raise vital funds for the hospice to continue to care for patients and their families when it matters most.”
