Find out more about Battle of Agincourt at Pontefract Castle

The castle visitor centre will host the free event on Sunday, October 25, at 1.15om.

Agincourt is depicted as a triumph against great odds in William Shakespeare’s Henry V, in which the young king gives his rousing St Crispin’s Day speech.

The talk will ask how much of what is believed about the battle is actually true.

Coun Les Shaw, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for culture, media and sport, said: “Pontefract Castle has a rich and colourful history and many of its stories are well known.

“However, not everyone knows about its links to the Battle of Agincourt.”

The talk is part of the £3.5m Heritage Lottery-funded Key to the North Project.

The scheme will see parts of the castle which have been closed since the 17th century opened up to the public.
