Former Miss Wakefield to compete on Channel 4's Come Dine With Me

Katie Cheeseman and her partner, Neil McCluskey, will compete against two other couples as they bid to win £1,000.

The show sees three couples battle it out to create the perfect dinner party with a delicious three course menu.

And at the end of each night the contestants then rate the evening out of 10.

The couple with the most points at the end of the competition win the cash prize.

Miss Cheeseman, a former Miss Wakefield, has been sworn to secrecy about how they got on, but said taking part in the show was a brilliant experience.

The 31-year-old said: “I am not a great cook. I only moved into my own house last August and I could barely boil an egg.

“After I was crowned Miss Wakefield, I have been asked to do a number of shows like Big Brother, Love Island and Take Me Out.

“I am really committed to my job but when they asked me about Come Dine With Me, I thought it would be one I would like to do.

“I have told all my patients I will be on the show but most of them were surprised because they think I can’t cook.”

Miss Cheeseman, of Nostell Fields, Crofton, and her partner created a menu of “hearty food with a modern twist”.

They rustled up a coconut-shrimp salad with a pomegranate sauce for the starter.

It was followed by a shepherd’s pie for the main course and a banoffee pie for desert.

Miss Cheesman said: “We really push ourselves and my job was to focus on the presentation. You watch the show on telly and you do not realise how long the days are.

“They filmed all day and we put a lot of hours into the preparation. At the end, you start missing the film crew because you spend so much time with them.”

Miss Cheeseman rose to fame after being crowned Miss Wakefield in 2008.

But she gave up her hopes of becoming Miss England in favour of finishing her nursing degree.

Miss Cheeseman dropped out of the competition after realising she would have to leave her course – six weeks before it was due to finish.

She is now a qualified district nurse and visits patients at their homes across the district.

Miss Cheeseman will appear on Come Dine With Me in the next six weeks.
