Active Wednesday is a day to burn off some steam with outdoor games and cycling. There will be cricket and volleyball on the vista and a led bike ride with Wakefield District Cycle Forum from 1pm. It starts at the front of the house.

Thursday is the day for creative crafts and the end of the week sees the return of Pot Luck Friday, where anything could happen.

General manager Jenny Layfield said: “Our holiday activities are proving really popular so we’re looking forward to seeing lots of families this half term. As well as the scheduled Monday to Friday programme, there’s plenty to see and do in the house and the outdoors looks absolutely fantastic at this time of year.”

The house will be open Wednesday to Sunday, with a family trail available at the entrance and dressing up in the Servants’ Hall.
