The second phase - from April 12 - includes allowing self-contained holiday accommodation, such as self-catering lets and camp sites, to open.

The Haven statement said: We appreciate there will be disappointed guests who were booked to stay with us during March and in early April, but we will continue to follow the guidance laid out by the Government, as we have throughout the pandemic, to ensure the health and wellbeing of the nation and the safety and security of our guests, owners and teams are our number one priority.

"We are conscious that this will have an impact on a large amount of British families, and we are currently contacting all guests affected by the closure and the options that will be available to them.

"We would like to thank our guests for their patience and continued understanding whilst we work through this as quickly as we can. We will continue to provide guest with information via our website and social media channels. We cannot yet provide exact clarity for our reopening dates in Wales and Scotland but will provide this to our guests as soon as we have confirmation from the respective Governments.

Haven holiday sites on the East coast coast are at Primrose Valley, Filey, the Blue Dolphin, near Filey, Reighton Sands and Thornwick Bay, Flamborough.
