They will be on hand to help people take advantage of the opportunities on offer and answer any questions people may have.

This year’s Jobs Fairs are being organised by the Flair4Retail job site, which allows people to apply for jobs and upload their CVs to a dedicated jobmatch service.

Coun Denise Jeffery, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Growth and Skills, said: “Last year’s Jobs Fairs were a real success and we’re hoping that this year’s events will help to place even more local people in retail jobs in time for Christmas.

Eileen Holroyd, The Ridings Shopping Centre Manager, said: “Following the success of last year’s Jobs Fair and the feedback we got from our stores, we’re looking forward to hosting a fair which will make the Christmas recruitment process really easy for both stores and employees.”

Cormac Hamilton, Trinity Walk’s Centre Manager, said: “We’ve all been working together on boosting employment across the whole city for the last year to reach more people. There are jobs out there, but telling people about them is one of the key challenges and together with Flair 4 Retail, we are seeing some solid results.

“This is another step towards helping more people across Wakefield into work and up the career ladder.”

Ian Hunter, District Manager for Jobcentre plus West Yorkshire said “Last year was a huge success and as a result those attending received invaluable support direct from businesses and Jobcentre staff, we are looking forward to being involved again this year and helping more local people to fill local jobs”.

Flair4Retail is a partnership between Wakefield Council, Jobcentre Plus, Trinity Walk, The Ridings Shopping Centre and the Wakefield City Centre Partnership.

In Flair4Retail’s first four months, more than 40 jobs were advertised and over 400 people registered their CVs in the talent pool.

Both figures are expected to significantly increase over the coming months, as the festive season approaches and more retailers and jobseekers hear about the website.
