M1 near Wakefield to be closed overnight
The M1 motorway near Wakefield will be closed as works to upgrade the carriageway into a ‘smart motorway’ continue.

The Highways Agency is carrying out work to upgrade the stretch of road between junction 39 at Durkar and junction 42 at Lofthouse to ease congestion.
The scheme, which is due to be completed by September, will see hard shoulders become permanent lanes during peak times.
As part of the works, the northbound carriageway will be closed between junction 41 at Carr Gate and junction 42 at Lofthouse overnight on Saturday and Sunday (March 14 and 15)
The closures will be in place from 8pm until 6am.
