Man falls 20ft into stream in Batley

A man was airlifted to hospital after falling 20 feet into a stream this afternoon (Saturday).

The 41-year-old man fell over a wall on Lady Ann Road, Soothill, and into water.

Firefighters from Batley arrived to rescue the man at about 2.30pm, when they realised they needed specialist equipment from Cleckheaton.

Crews from Cleckheaton and Dewsbury and specialist ambulance crews helped the man, and he was taken away by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance with suspected neck injuries.

Batley watch commander John Jackson said the water was only ankle-deep.
