Man seriously injured in ‘hit and run’

The man was walking along Ropergate, Pontefract, just after midnight on Sunday when a car collided with him.

A police spokesman said the vehicle then drove off and the pedestrian was left with serious leg injuries.

He said it is not clear what type of car was involved in the incident and asked for anyone who saw the incident or anything suspicious in Pontefract town centre around the time of the collision to get in touch.
