The Post Office is holding a drop-in forum to give people the chance to find out more about the proposed changes, which would see a new branch opened in the WHSmith store in Trinity Walk to replace the current building off Providence Street.

It confirmed all existing staff would be given the option to transfer their employment to the new branch. And it said moving the service would benefit customers by extending opening times by 9.5 hours a week.

The drop-in forum will be held on Tuesday, June 21 at Wakefield Town Hall from 4pm until 7pm.

Wakefield MP Mary Creagh said: “It is deeply worrying that Post Office has decided to close Wakefield Crown Post Office and I encourage everyone to respond to the consultation.”

She will attend the forum to discuss about the impact of the plans on Wakefield families and businesses.

People can also visit postofficeviews.co.uk, email [email protected] or call 03457 22 33 44 to have their say until July 6.
