Missing man Damion Vernon: Family’s emotional video appeal

The search for a father of two, who was last seen in Wakefield, has entered its second week.

Damion Vernon, 32, of Headlands Close, Bridlington, was reported missing at 5.28pm on Tuesday, December 9.

He was last seen in the Belle Vue area of the city on Monday, December 8, and he has not been in touch with his family or friends since.

His family say they are desperate to hear from him and they are growing more concerned with every day that passes.

They say it is completely out of character for him not to be in touch.

His mum, Margaret Fox, said: “Damion has mental health issues and he was just going through the process of getting help.

“We all love him and miss him and we want to help him. We’re distraught.

“We just want him home. I’m beside myself, we all are. He’s never done anything like this before, we just can’t understand it.

“His fiancé and his children miss him dearly and his brother has been out looking for him everywhere.

“The support we have received is amazing but we just don’t know what has happened.

“We just want him to get in touch even if he doesn’t want to come home, we just want to know he’s alright.

“If anyone knows anything please just get in touch with the police.”

Mr Vernon’s family has also set up a Facebook page to help find him.

Det Insp Allison Sweeting, of Humberside Police, said: “Damion is a family man and it is totally out of character for him to go missing like this.

“We are carrying out inquiries in West Yorkshire and we still think Damion is in the Wakefield area.

“We are working closely with our colleagues in West Yorkshire.

“And we are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who can give any information in relation to Damion’s whereabouts.”
