Mobile fish and chip business could net award

Dodson’s Fresh Catch is in with a chance of netting a Best Mobile Fish and Chip Operator Award.

The Wakefield firm has been named as one of the top three finalists in the category in the 2016 National Fish and Chip Awards, organised by Seafish.

Dodson’s will be competing against Starchip Enterprise in Evesham, Worcestershire, and Tom and Simon’s Kitchen in Bingham, Nottinghamshire. The three operators will now be subjected to mystery visits as the final stage of competition judging before the winners are announced at The Lancaster London Hotel in January 2016.

The National Fish and Chip Awards are recognised as one of the most prominent and respected seafood industry events in the UK.

The mobile operator category recognises fish and chip businesses that excel at operating on a mobile basis. The contenders were judged on a variety of criteria, including the policies they have in place regarding the responsible sourcing of raw ingredients, the preparation of products, how levels of customer satisfaction are recorded and responded to, and marketing and promotional activity.

Mel Groundsell, from Seafish, said: “Juggling the demands of running a successful business that operates on a mobile basis can be a very challenging task.”
