New acts added to Long Division 2014 line up

More bands have been announced for this year’s Long Division festival weekend.

Rotherham Indie group Slow Club will join Saturday’s line up as well as Mazes, psychedelic rock group Holy Mountain, Tuff Love, country and folk singer Sam Airey, Too Many T’s, High Hazels and electronic pop band Patterns.

Other performers announced for the multi-venue music extravaganza are Radstewart, Then Thickens, Theo Verney, Castleford rockers Allusondrugs and Cry Baby Cry.

The festival of music, art and comedy runs at venues across the city from Friday September 12 to Sunday September 14 .

Wakefield indie rock band The Cribs will headline the festival at Unity Hall on Friday night with their first homecoming gig in seven years.

They will be supported by local band Mi Mye.

The group will also perform an under 18s gig earlier in the day, supported by The Spills.

Other acts confirmed so far include The Wedding Present, Gruff Rhys, Toy, Summer Camp, The Sunbeams, Roddy Woomble, ILikeTrains, The Membranes, Candy Says, Beans on Toast, VerseChorusVerse, Nadine Carina, Treason Kings and The Sunbeams.

Details of Sunday’s fringe festival will be announced soon and will showcase Wakefield’s creative and cultural diversity.

Performance venues include Unity Works Major and Minor Hall, Warehouse 23, Players, Havana and Westgate Chapel.

Tickets can be bought from Wah Wah Records, Jumbo Records, Crash Records, Debut Records and See Tickets.

Tickets for The Cribs are priced at £30 with tickets for Saturday priced at £22.50.

This year a limited number of VIP tickets will also be available for £50. They allow access to all of the Saturday events as well as The Cribs’ Friday gig.

Under 18s tickets for The Cribs cost £10.

Long Division was created in 2011 to celebrate the city’s creative talent.
