One week until Wakefield district chooses its MPs

There is just one week to go before voters decide who they want to run the country for the next five years.

People are being reminded to use their vote in the parliamentary and local authority elections on Thursday, May 7.

Voters will be choosing an MP for the three constituencies across the district: Hemsworth; Pontefract, Castleford and Normanton; and Wakefield.

A third of Wakefield Council members are also up for election as well and town and parish councillors.

The Express will be at the count for both the general and district elections. Follow @WakeExpress, @PandCExpress, @HSEExpress or @Exp_Sam after 10pm for all the results as they are announced on the night.

The results will be counted at Thornes Park Athletic Stadium, meaning the facility will be closed from 11am on May 6, until 8.30am on May 9.
