LETTER: Apology from McTigue Funeral Directors

My apology to everyone

I write with an apology. As managing director of McTigue Funeral Directors, a family-run business, and an active and committed member of my local and extended community, I would like to apologise for recent events involving my father Jim McTigue, who has worked as a funeral director within the business.

His actions impacted on individuals during an extremely upsetting time and for this we are truly sorry.

While we do not condone his actions and will not make excuses, I can reassure people that my father is not a person who would deliberately cause hurt or distress.

As you can imagine over recent weeks we have had the time to reflect on this matter and have decided as a business that my father will retire. McTigue Funeral Directors will continue to operate as normal with myself and my wife Sarah running the business.

During recent months we have co-operated fully with an investigation into the company and its practices. The findings have reported that McTigue Funeral Directors operates ethically.

Once again we would like to extend our apologies to the families involved.
