Pensioner, 90, hit by Lexus sports car in Wakefield city centre

Police are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Wakefield city centre where a 90-year-old man was hit by a luxury car.

It happened at about 1:11pm yesterday (Tuesday) when a Lexus IS 300h hit a pedestrian in Cliff Parade, near to the junction with Wood Street.

The pedestrian, who is 90 years-old, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

He remains in hospital today, where his condition is described as critical but stable.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or what happened leading up to it, is asked to call the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or through the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log 722 of 15/12.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone with dash cam or mobile phone footage which may assist in the investigation.
