Like all regions around the UK, we have our own dialect and there are certain phrases and things that we do which may only be understood by those who hail from the white rose county.
Here’s a list of things you might not understand if you’re not from the great region that is Yorkshire.
5. "Put big light on"
With houses and rooms usually having more than one light, us Yorkshire folk have a nominated big light.
6. "It's like Blackpool illuminations"
Remember the shouts of 'Turn that light off, it's like Blackpool illumnations in here...?"
7. "Were you born in a barn?"
The words you would hear if you ever dared to leave a door open.
8. "You'd make a better door than a window"
When you can’t see it because someone has stood in front of it. In other words, get out of t' way!
