The charity can no longer set up and serve food in the city centre due to the government's recent restrictions on gatherings of more than two people and social distancing.

But they will continue to support the homeless and vulnerable across the district by adapting to a new way of working.

The street kitchen is now operating from Kindness Sharehouse, Wakefield and are taking extra precautions to be safe with minimum volunteers in the kitchen.

Working everyday across the district, the charity are preparing sandwiches and reheating soup ,supplied by Bears Kitchen, to be delivered to the temporary accommodations across the district.

“We know sandwiches and soup are not the best but just trying to get something out to the people is better than nothing.

“We are following the government's advice and are taking extra precautions.

“There are very few of us in the kitchen with a maximum of three and are all social distancing, we are cleaning the worktops and equipment every 30 minutes to take the steps to be safe.” Anna said.

Wakefield Street kitchen also delivers parcels of food to Ward 27, Pinderfields Hospital everyday to support the staff during this crisis.

“Health permitting I am going to do this as long as I can, the longer I am healthy the longer my people are healthy, the longer we can do this.”

The charity is also working alongside Dewsbury Street to ensure all homeless receive food everyday and will continue to support them.
