Appeal to save red phone box from the being scrapped
Plans are in place to remove an iconic red phone box from Stanley, unless residents take ownership.
BT wants to remove the box from Moorhouse Grove, next to the Premier store, but ward councillors are asking if the locals want to retain it.
Coun Matthew Morley wrote: “Unfortunately there’s been some mix up with the consultation and we’ve only just been informed.
“If it cannot be kept as a phone maybe residents would consider taking ownership and possibly turning into a little library.”
