17. Mandy
Mandy is a GOLDEN oldie! She may be 14 years old, but she clearly hasn't received that memo! She's still as bubbly as ever and thoroughly enjoys her walkies. She's worried by other dogs and unfortunately will bark if she sees them, so she will need to be walked in quiet areas where she won't encounter many. She's really friendly with all her human friends and enjoys plenty of attention. She fully house trained and loves to play with her toys. She's just generally full of life. Mandy will need reasonably active owners who will enjoy taking her out for nice walks. She needs to be the only pet in a calm, adult only household. She'll need someone around all the time until she's completely settled and will need to sleep on the landing, so she knows her family are nearby. Experience of her breed will help you understand her sassy character! A secure garden would be perfect, so she has somewhere to play and explore. Photo: Dog Trust
Meghan is seven years old and one of the nicest natured dogs you could ever meet. She loves cuddles and likes to be as close as possible to her owners so she can showers them with kisses. Meghan is good with dogs and will happily curl up in bed with her doggy companions. She isn't overly playful with other dogs but just seems to like their company. She should be fine with children 16 and over. Sadly Meghan as various medical conditions and her new owners will need to factor in both the financial costs and also the commitment needed to take on a dog like Meghan. Our Vet removed 30 stones from her bladder which has taken it's toll and Meghan isn't and probably never will be fully house trained. (This is probably as a result of her medical condition). She also has problems with her back legs and will need a garden with a soft surface such as grass. Meghan is on a specialist diet which should hopefully avoid the build up of any more bladder stones. She is on medication for this and also for her legs. If this isn' Photo: Dog Trust
Ralphie has a BFF in tow and the two would like to find a home together. Ralphie is 4 and Chyna is nearly 3 and the two have a solid bond and are very dependant on each other. Ralphie is a little more confident than Chyna but can still be a bit avoidant at first. Once you are familiar to him you will see his true character and what a lovely little dog he is. Chyna is a bit more reserved and tends to follow Ralphies lead. She is quite hand shy and will need a hands off approach initially but as the bond forms with her new owners Chyna should start to relax. Both dogs love their toys and those little legs also enjoy a walk. They are ok with other dogs out and about although Chyna does lack in confidence. They would prefer not to share their home with other dogs though but older sensible children should be fine (14 and over). A secure garden is a must for this pair and also a quick chat with our behaviour team to ensure we set them off on the right path. As Chyna is a little worried by new people she will need s Photo: Dog Trust
Sammy is eight years old and is absolutely adorable and has so much potential but is finding time in kennels quite stressful. Out of his kennel he is really affectionate once he knows you but may need a few visits from his new owners to start to build a bond before he goes home. Sammy loves to play and likes to make himself heard and he is great fun to be around and full of life. Sammy can live with sensible children over the age of 16 years. He would need to live as the only pet in the home and with owners that can be around for most of the day initially to help settle him in. Sammy can be quite vocal when he sees other dogs on walks and can be snappy if they get too close. We have started to muzzle train Sammy just as a precaution and his new owners should be able to continue this at home. Sammy would be best walked in quieter areas for now and would need an enclosed garden for some off lead play time. Photo: Dog Trust
