21. Summer
Summer is a sweet natured girl who can find the world a worrying place. Given time and understanding she will come out of her shell and make someone a loving companion. Summer arrived with us suffering an injury to her back end which is under constant review with our vet and new owners need to be aware of this and the potential ongoing medical costs. Summer is looking for a strict adult only home as the only pet. Summer can be worried by new and unfamiliar people, especially men. Any new home she goes too must have at least one female as she seems more comfortable. She will need owners who are around all of the time as she can get upset on her own. This can be worked on slowly but will take a number of weeks until she is comfortable on her own. A secure garden is a must for Summer as due to her injury she can't go for long walks and until she is comfortable with her new owners she will be garden exercise only. She loves her food, over time is learning to play with toys. She will come for comfort and a fuss fr Photo: Dog Trust
Thor is a great energetic boy with lots to learn. He loves people and loves playing with his toys. At 2 years old he is still young and would benefit from basic training. He is also very strong on the lead so will need help with loose lead walking. Thor is looking for a home with active owners who don't mind being on the go. He enjoys long walks but needs to learn loose lead walking exercises. Toys are his favourite thing and he will play all day long if you let him. A secure garden is a must for Thor so he can potter and play. Due to his size and strength he couldn't live with young children but children over the age of 14 should be ok. He will need owners around all the time to help him settle in. After a settling in period he should be ok on his own for a short time. Thor is lacking a little in confidence when out & about and can be unsure around other dogs, he is currently making great progress with our trainers but will need walking in quieter areas where there are not many dogs around Photo: Dog Trust
Winter is a superb looking 7 year old Akita. All his handlers adore him as he is a big fluffy cuddle monster. Winter can be a little aloof with strangers but once he has that special bond he will be a friend for life. Winter is manageable around dogs but would prefer quieter dog walking areas, he will also need to be the only pet in an adult only home. He is not demanding for exercise and would suit a less active household who have a large secure garden that he can potter round in to his hearts content. Winter requires ongoing medication for his legs which his new owner must factor in. He does get anxious when his owners are not around so cannot be left alone until he is fully settled in (this could take a while). Winter is a dream to walk and is very foody so be sure to bring some tasty treats along and Winter will be your soul mate ! Winter will need multiple visits to the centre and also several home visits to ensure we give him the tools for success. His new owners will need to live within an hour or so o Photo: Dog Trust
