Kim Revill, who worked at the newspaper from 1991 to 1996, has put a guide together to the must-see areas which includes Harry Malkin’s miners sculpture at Allerton Bywater, Ledsham Church and Kippax Cricket Bats in Methley, where some of the world’s leading cricket players buy their bats.

The book is called ‘111 Place in Leeds That You Shouldn’t Miss’.

Mrs Revill, who moved to Brussels in the early 2000s for her husband’s job, explained: “I missed Yorkshire and after seeing a book on Sheffield in the 111 Places series, thought it was right and proper to pitch for Leeds. It was a fantastic experience and I met some amazing people and found out a lot about my home city which I hadn’t known before I started the writing process.

“Certainly being an ex reporter, it gave me the tools to seek out the places and chat with people.

“It gave me an excuse to come over to Yorkshire on a regular basis to conduct my research and reacquaint myself with Leeds once again.”
