Friends appealing for help to give the less fortunate a treat for Christmas

A fundraiser has been launched by a group of friends to support those less fortunate this year across the district.

The group of eight friends from Wakefield, created the idea to distribute gift boxes across the city.

Leah Mitchell, said: "The boxes we are creating will go to the young people of Kettlethorpe High School who don't have the best home life and/or struggle with their mental health.

"We will also be taking boxes to homeless shelters to support those who need it the most.

"As a team, our mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of who they are and what their circumstances are, has the best Christmas possible."

All donations will go towards the cost of making the boxes suitable to the people who will receive them.

"With all that has happened in 2020 we want to be able to see something good come from it and we think that little gifts like these have the potential to paint a smile on peoples faces and we hope that these will ameliorate Christmas for all those we reach." Leah said.
