There were a total of 4,007 reports of fly-tipping to Wakefield Council between November 2024 and November 2025, which is up from the previous year (August 2023 to July 2024) which saw 3,740 reports made.
A Freedom of Information (FOI) request submitted by the Express to Wakefield Council revealed that six people received Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) between November 11, 2024 and November 11, 2025, down on the previous year in which 15 people were fined between November 11, 2023 and November 10, 2024.
FPNs are issued at a discount rate of £300 and raised to £400 if not paid within the agreed timescales.
Failure to pay the FPN would result in court proceedings – the court then determines the fines issued.
The highest fine in the last 12 months in the Wakefield district was for £400.
The FOI has revealed the top 20 streets with the most fly-tipping in the district in the last 12 months.
*Note the top five streets all have bring sites associated with them (recycle points at supermarkets).
