Homes approved on site of Grade-II-listed home in Wakefield
Up to 46 homes have already been given the green light on the old Warburton’s bakery site on Alverthorpe Road, with work having started.
Now an additional 21 will now be built on the adjoining site, once occupied by the listed Westgate End House, but which has since been flattened.

There will be 14 two-bedroom and seven three-bedroom townhouses built − a mixture of two and three storeys.
Access to the new development will be from the south-east corner of the site, onto Alverthorpe Road.
A number of the homes were initially to be classed as ‘affordable’, but reports suggest they were not viable, so a one-off payment to Wakefield Council was agreed.
