Live At Tileyard North: The Stranglers announced as third headliner for Wakefield summer concert series
UK punk and new wave icons The Stranglers have been announced as the third headliner of the upcoming debut Live at Tileyard North concert series.
As part of the new two-week series of outdoor live music in central Wakefield, The Stranglers will take to the stage on Friday, August 21 at the historic courtyard of Rutland Mills.

First formed in 1974, The Stranglers have earned 24 Top 40 singles and 20 Top 40 albums in an impressive career that spans over six different decades.
Their first three albums (Rattus Norvegicus, No More Heroes and Black and White) were released within an astonishing 13 months of each other, scoring hit singles with ‘Peaches’, ‘No More Heroes’ and ‘Walk On By’.
In 2024 The Stranglers’ 50th anniversary year was packed with celebratory sell-out tours across the world and headline slots at festivals worldwide, including a sell-out performance at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall.
The subsequent live album ‘Fifty Years In Black’ made history when it became the band’s 20th top 40 album in the UK.
Fans can expect to enjoy the charming interplay of bass playing icon Jean-Jacques Burnel and longest serving guitarist/vocalist Baz Warne co-fronting the band as they navigate their way through a varied set of six decades worth of hits, hidden gems and fan favourites.
The pair are joined by mainstay Jim Macaulay on drums and newest member, Toby Hounsham on keyboards.
The Stranglers will be joined by a full supporting line-up including fellow punk legends, Buzzcocks, Coventry alternative-indie quintet FEET and Irish garage rock trio, Adore.
Presented by local independent promoters Futuresound, Live at Tileyard North will bring Wakefield’s first outdoor concert series to life with two weeks of incredible outdoor live music experiences in the courtyard of the impressive Tileyard North development.
The Stranglers join previously announced Live at Tileyard North headliners the Vaccines, who will be in Wakefield performing their critically acclaimed 2011 debut album What Did You Expect From the Vaccines? in full to celebrate 15 years since its release on Sunday, August 30 and Sophie Ellis-Bextor who will headline the outdoor venue on Thursday, August 27.
