Mick 'I can't Spake' Morgan gives Yorkshire Day a lift at Xscape in Castleford
Mick Morgan’s legendary “I can’t spake” quote has is giving visitors to Xscape a Yorkshire Day lift
Excerpts from Mick’s famous 1994 commentary have been rerecorded and added to the automatic lift announcements at Xsacpe in Castleford.
Mick, who had a 20-year rugby league playing career, said he still smiles when fans remind him of the quote when he’s out walking in Castleford and even on one trip to Australia
And he was happy to oblige by repeating some of the phrases from the infamous Cup Final commentary – “I can’t spake”, “They don’t like it”, “Get ‘em walkin’” and “come on Cas, rub it in” – which have been immortalised inside the lift at Xscape.

Mick, who was brought up in Featherstone, came out with the quotes while commentating on Castleford Tigers Regal Trophy final v Wigan at Headingley in 1992.
Mick said: “It was just something I did that day and it just took off. I can be out walking and people will wind their car window down and shout I can’t spake. The way it took off was unbelievable.”
Mick, who played for clubs including Featherstone and Wakefield Trinity, added: “It was a bit of fun back in the day and is still a bit of fun. People love it.”
Mick said has been collecting for the Castleford Tigers lottery once a week since 1975 and still does his rounds every Wednesday.
And he runs a weekly quiz at The Houghton pub in Glasshoughton on Thursday nights.
Jason Warren, centre director at Xscape Yorkshire, said: "Yorkshire Day is all about celebrating what makes this county special, and for the people of Castleford you won't find anyone more special and Yorkshire than Mick Morgan."
To celebrate the launch, Xscape has created 50 limited-edition commemorative “I can’t spake” scarves that will be given away free between 11am and 4pm on Yorkshire Day, giving visitors the chance to take home a keepsake marking the occasion.
